Hi there everyone. Here are just a few of our photos from our Ireland trip - we did get a bit snap happy and found that we had taken over 100 photos while we were there. Didn't think you would be interested in all of them but these will give you a general idea of what we saw and the places we visited.

BACK FROM IRELAND
Our trip to Ireland has sadly ended and we are now back at school again and back to reality unfortunately. Ireland was 'grand' as they seem to say over there and we had a fantastic 8 days of driving around and looking at the lower half of the country.

The weather on the first few days was great - nice and sunny can you believe it! But from about Tuesday through to Saturday it was the usual drizzle and mist so it made sight seeing a little difficult - especially around the peninsulas. Some of the highlights for us had to be the Cliffs of Mohar, Blarny Castle, various old ruins of medieval villages and castles, sites of old monastery's from 500 AD (with the big round towers like you would see in a fairy tale like Rupunzal), Dolmen Portal Tombs and would you believe a visit to the Bog - I know!

We saw a sign on the map about a tourist centre not far off the road and thought we would just pop in and see what was there. When we pulled up it said Corsa Bog - we were just about to drive off but I needed to make a toilet stop so we thought we would just have a quick squiz around. The man a reception began to tell us about the history of it and how a very major road was built there in medieval times. We watched a video and had a look around and it was actually quite amazing to learn about the people and how they worked and lived. We also learnt a bit about 'bog bodies' which was interesting as the bog preserves objects and animals excellently even after hundreds of years and he showed us some pictures of them and man they looked totally in tact - skin and all! A bit groce I know but it was just quite amazing!!!

I am not able to put the photos on until the weekend as we need to borrow our flatmates camera cord but these will give you some more idea of what I am talking about and the great sites we saw. Don't want to bore you all too much more at this stage but I can say that Ireland was very pretty and the history we discovered there was just so unreal when you live in such a new country like New Zealand.
